A Family Physician With the Time and Tools to Look at the Whole Person

Finding a family physician is one thing. Finding one with time to listen, consider several concerns together, and use more than one approach is another.

Dr. Mark Stevens and ABQ Osteopathic Clinic, LLC, take that approach in Albuquerque.

Dr. Stevens is a board certified osteopathic family physician. He is a medical doctor trained in family medicine with specialized training in osteopathic manipulative medicine. When appropriate, he can evaluate your health as a physician and use hands on osteopathic techniques. An appointment does not have to begin and end with a prescription or a referral.

Family Medicine in Albuquerque With Time to Talk

Time is one of the clearest differences at ABQ Osteopathic Clinic.

Dr. Stevens talks openly about choosing quality over quantity. If a patient needs more time to explain what is happening, ask questions, or work through several concerns, his practice model gives him more freedom to provide it. Some appointments may require considerably more time than a conventional brief office visit.

Patients have room to explain what brought them in and discuss symptoms that may not fit neatly into one category. There is time to understand why a treatment is being considered and what other options may exist. The extra time leaves room to understand the person as well as the complaint.

Whole Person Medical Care Without Giving Up Conventional Medicine

Dr. Stevens describes his approach as integrative medicine and whole person care. He considers how the body, the mind, a person's circumstances, and the medical problem that brought them through the door are connected.

It does not mean abandoning conventional medicine.

He is a family physician who can evaluate acute and ongoing medical concerns, order laboratory testing, perform an EKG, review treatment options, and provide selected office procedures. His osteopathic background also gives him another way to evaluate structure, movement, muscles, joints, and how different parts of the body may interact.

For someone who wants a more complete conversation about their health without giving up physician level medical care, that combination is important.

Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment From a Family Physician

Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment, commonly called OMT, is one of the central services at ABQ Osteopathic Clinic.

Dr. Stevens uses different osteopathic techniques for different patients. His training includes more direct manipulation and gentler cranial techniques.

OMT is part of the medical evaluation. The same physician can consider a patient's health history, symptoms, medications, medical concerns, and whether hands on treatment makes sense for that person.

Treatment is selected for each patient.

Osteopathic, Integrative, and Office Based Treatment Options

Dr. Stevens describes the practice as having "a lot of tools in his toolbox." Depending on the person and the medical concern, those tools may include osteopathic manipulation, cranial osteopathic treatment, dry needling, trigger point injections, joint injections, prolotherapy, PRP, radiofrequency therapy, ultrasound therapy, laboratory testing, hypnosis and relaxation techniques, medical weight management, or conventional family medicine care.

That does not mean every patient needs every service.

Dr. Stevens can evaluate what is happening first and consider different approaches for the individual patient. The practice draws from several areas of medicine while remaining physician led. Labels such as conventional, holistic, or alternative do not capture the full mix.

Dr. Mark Stevens' Background in Family Medicine and Military Medicine

Dr. Stevens is a New Mexico native who graduated from Touro University Nevada College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2009 and completed his family medicine residency at Maine Dartmouth Family Medicine Residency.

His career has included both civilian and military medicine. He served four years on active duty in the United States Air Force, including a deployment to Afghanistan, where he worked as an intensive care ward physician. He has also worked in urgent care, primary care, and other medical settings throughout his career.

His father was an entrepreneur, massage therapist, and esthetician who encouraged him to begin seeing patients independently years ago.

Dr. Stevens first started ABQ Osteopathic Clinic around 2013 or 2014. After working in other practices and taking time for family responsibilities, he reopened ABQ Osteopathic Clinic in April 2026.

Independent practice lets him shape care around his approach to medicine.

Direct Pay Medical Care at ABQ Osteopathic Clinic

ABQ Osteopathic Clinic operates on a direct pay basis and does not bill insurance.

For Dr. Stevens, that structure is part of how he wants to care for patients. It gives him more freedom to spend time listening, discussing options, and deciding what makes sense without structuring the entire encounter around insurance billing requirements.

The clinic also emphasizes transparency around fees so patients can understand what they are paying for.

Patients can request appointments online, call the clinic, or send a text.

Family Medicine in Albuquerque's Northeast Heights

ABQ Osteopathic Clinic is located along the Menaul Boulevard corridor in Albuquerque's Northeast Heights.

The practice cares for both adults and children, and Dr. Stevens has a particular interest in helping people who want to participate in improving their health.

The visit focuses on understanding what is happening, explaining the options clearly, and determining what approach makes sense for you.

For someone looking for a family physician who can listen carefully, practice conventional medicine, provide hands on osteopathic care, and draw from a wider range of treatment options when appropriate, ABQ Osteopathic Clinic brings those options together in one practice.

About 505 Spotlight

Join the Cause

I believe more local businesses should be able to do what they love for the communities they serve. The businesses that care most about Albuquerque and the surrounding area should not have to spend thousands on ads just to get noticed. Too often, the businesses that actually serve people well get buried while bigger brands with bigger budgets take all the attention. 505 Spotlight exists to push back on that and help more locals discover the businesses that make this community better.

After spending the last decade working with agencies and larger brands, I got a close look at how visibility is won, how trust is built, and why so many great local businesses get overlooked in the process. That experience shaped 505 Spotlight into a different kind of platform. It spotlights standout businesses across Albuquerque, Rio Rancho, Corrales, Los Ranchos, and Bernalillo in a way that feels more human, more local, and earned.

Spotlights on 505 Spotlight are free, but invitation-only. That means businesses are not here because they paid to be seen. They are here because they stood out, take pride in what they do, and are the kind of local businesses people genuinely want to recommend to friends, family, and neighbors.

We start by spotlighting great businesses and making it easier for locals to find them. I also keep the community active with giveaways, raffles, and scavenger hunts that make discovering local businesses more fun. If you believe local businesses deserve more visibility and stronger community support, you're in the right place.
