Rebecca Palak Midwifery
Rebecca Palak Midwifery provides homebirth, prenatal, postpartum, lactation, and hospital-birth support for families in Albuquerque and Northern New Mexico.
Homebirth Midwifery in Albuquerque Built Around Your Choices
Rebecca's approach to midwifery is not built around telling you what your pregnancy or birth should look like. It is built around making sure you understand your options well enough to make decisions that are right for you and your family.
When you work with Rebecca Palak Midwifery, you can expect time to ask questions, clear explanations, and space to make your own choices without feeling pressured in any direction. Rebecca brings the clinical knowledge and experience to help you understand what is happening and what your options are, while keeping you involved in the decisions about your own care.
Choosing a midwife is personal. Credentials and experience matter, but you also need to know that you can talk openly with the person who will be beside you through pregnancy, birth, and the weeks that follow.
Rebecca serves families throughout Albuquerque, Santa Fe, Rio Rancho, the East Mountains, including Edgewood and Cedar Crest, and surrounding Northern New Mexico communities. Her Albuquerque office is in the Far Northeast Heights area near Academy Road and Wyoming Boulevard, where families can meet with her. Much of her postpartum care takes place in the home.
More Than a Decade of Midwifery Experience
Rebecca is 11 years into her work as a midwife and has attended more than 600 births.
Her path began with midwifery training in El Paso, Texas, where she went on to become a staff midwife and later the clinical director of a busy birth center. After moving to New Mexico, she continued working in birth center care before eventually opening her own private practice.
That experience gives Rebecca a broad perspective on birth while still allowing her to work with families on a personal level.
She is a New Mexico Licensed Midwife and Certified Professional Midwife. Those credentials reflect professional preparation specifically focused on pregnancy, birth, postpartum care, and community based midwifery.
Rebecca is also an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant. That becomes especially valuable after the baby arrives because feeding support does not have to come from a completely separate provider who is meeting you for the first time.
She also speaks Spanish, which can make care more accessible when the client or other family members are more comfortable communicating in Spanish.
Care That Gives You Time to Ask Questions
Rebecca's appointments are designed to leave room for more than checking vitals and listening to the baby.
Pregnancy brings questions about birth, feeding, family support, what to expect after delivery, and dozens of things you may not even know to ask about at the beginning. Rebecca uses that time to talk through those questions and help you prepare.
Over the course of pregnancy, that also gives Rebecca the opportunity to get to know you as a person.
She learns about your household, your support system, and what life may look like once the baby arrives. Those conversations can help uncover practical needs ahead of time, such as whether you may need additional postpartum support or help putting a stronger support system in place.
Your care is not limited to moving from appointment to appointment. There is continuity. You know who you are talking to, and Rebecca knows you.
Clients can also reach Rebecca between visits through phone, text, and an online portal, giving them a familiar person to contact when questions come up.
Homebirth and Support for Planned Hospital Births
Homebirth is the center of Rebecca Palak Midwifery.
Rebecca provides prenatal care, labor and birth attendance, newborn assessment, postpartum care, and waterbirth as an option within homebirth care.
But homebirth is not the only way to work with her.
Rebecca also offers additional midwifery support for people who are planning a hospital birth. This can include prenatal education, preparation for labor and the hospital experience, postpartum care, and additional support around the decisions that come with pregnancy.
She also offers monitrice services for people who want experienced support while laboring at home before transitioning to the hospital.
This is an option many families simply do not realize exists. Planning to give birth in a hospital does not mean you have to give up the relationship, education, and continuity that can come from working with a midwife.
Postpartum Care That Continues After the Baby Arrives
Rebecca's care continues after birth.
Rebecca generally provides at least four to six postpartum visits through the first six weeks, with additional visits when they are needed.
Many of those visits take place in your home.
That means you are not packing up a newborn and trying to get across town every time you need help with feeding, recovery, baby weight, or questions about how things are going.
Rebecca checks on both parent and baby and incorporates lactation and feeding support directly into postpartum care.
During those first weeks, families are learning constantly and questions can come up from one day to the next. You are working with someone who already knows your pregnancy, your birth, your family, and your story.
A Midwife Who Wants You to Lead Your Care
Rebecca brings extensive experience into the room, but her goal is not to take over your decisions.
Her approach is to give you information, explain the options in front of you, answer your questions, and help you make an informed choice.
Her care combines midwifery experience with respect for your decisions.
You have someone who understands birth deeply, but you are still at the center of your own care.
If you are exploring homebirth in Albuquerque, Santa Fe, Rio Rancho, the East Mountains, or Northern New Mexico, or you are planning a hospital birth and want additional midwifery support before or after delivery, Rebecca offers a free consultation to talk through your options and see whether working together is the right fit.
