Motion Works Sports Medicine & Physical Therapy
Motion Works offers Albuquerque sports and orthopedic physical therapy with one-on-one care, hands-on treatment, and activity-specific rehabilitation.
Physical Therapy Where You Feel Heard and Seen
Choosing a physical therapist can be surprisingly difficult. Many clinics appear similar from the outside, and it is not always clear whether you will receive thoughtful attention or simply move through a standard routine. Motion Works Sports Medicine & Physical Therapy offers a more personal experience for people who want their concerns taken seriously and their goals understood from the beginning.
The practice is built around a simple idea. Treatment should address the person, not only the painful body part. When you come in with knee pain, shoulder trouble, an ankle injury, or a problem that has lasted longer than expected, the conversation does not stop at where it hurts. Your history, movement, training demands, daily responsibilities, recovery, and the activities you want to return to all help shape your care.
This approach is especially meaningful when you have already tried generic exercises, brief appointments, or treatment that never seemed to connect the pieces. At Motion Works, the goal is for you to understand what is happening, feel involved in the process, and leave with a plan that fits your life.
Individualized Physical Therapy in Albuquerque
Motion Works is located inside SAGA Gymnastics along the Candelaria corridor in Northeast Albuquerque. The setting reflects the practice’s close connection to active people, athletes, gymnasts, dancers, coaches, and families. It also creates an environment where movement and recovery are part of everyday life rather than separate clinical ideas.
Appointments allow time for a thorough assessment, hands on treatment, education, and activity specific rehabilitation. Instead of receiving a routine that could have been given to anyone, you can expect your treatment plan to reflect your injury, your body, and what you need to do outside the clinic.
That may mean helping a runner build confidence in an ankle again, helping a young athlete return to soccer or gymnastics, supporting someone after orthopedic surgery, or helping an active adult move with less fear. The purpose is not simply to complete physical therapy. The purpose is to help you return to the activities that matter to you with greater understanding and confidence.
Sports Physical Therapy Led by Dr. Brigit Barre
Motion Works was founded by Dr. Brigit Barre, a Doctor of Physical Therapy and Board Certified Clinical Specialist in Sports Physical Therapy. After earning her doctorate from the University of New Mexico, Brigit completed a sports physical therapy residency at Houston Methodist Hospital.
A sports residency is advanced training completed after earning a physical therapy doctorate. It gives a therapist deeper experience with athletic injuries, rehabilitation, movement demands, and the process of returning safely to sport. For you, that means your care can focus on more than reducing symptoms. It can account for the strength, control, mobility, and confidence required for the activity you are trying to resume.
Brigit’s connection to athletics is also personal. She grew up in New Mexico, competed in gymnastics, coached the sport, and became a Level 10 rated gymnastics judge. Her background helps her understand the difference between being able to complete basic movements and being ready for the demands of training, competition, recreation, or an active daily life.
Hands On Care With a Whole Person View
Hands on treatment is a central part of the Motion Works experience. Depending on what is appropriate for your situation, care may include manual therapy, therapeutic exercise, dry needling, cupping, shockwave treatment, or neural manipulation.
These services are not treated as isolated techniques or quick fixes. They are used within a broader plan that considers how your body is moving and what may be contributing to the problem. Shockwave is a noninvasive pressure wave treatment that may be used for persistent musculoskeletal concerns. Neural manipulation uses a broader framework for considering how the nervous system and other areas of the body may relate to symptoms.
The practical benefit is that treatment is not limited to repeating exercises while the larger problem goes unexplored. You receive explanations in understandable language, adjustments when your needs change, and guidance that helps you take an active role in your recovery.
Care for Athletes, Active Adults, and Growing Bodies
You do not have to be a competitive athlete to receive care at Motion Works. The practice works with people who want to remain active, whether that means hiking, running, lifting weights, playing tennis or pickleball, keeping up with family, or moving through daily life more comfortably.
Motion Works also has specific experience with gymnasts, dancers, young athletes, and people with hypermobility. These individuals often need a therapist who understands that their movement, flexibility, training demands, and injury patterns may not fit a standard approach. Care can also support orthopedic concerns during pregnancy and after childbirth, recovery following orthopedic surgery, and injury risk screening.
Across these different needs, the experience remains personal. You can expect someone to listen carefully, explain the reasoning behind the plan, and connect each stage of treatment to the activity you want back.
A Practice Created Around Better Care
Motion Works grew from Brigit’s experience working in a high volume, insurance based system where therapists often had to see too many people at one time. She wanted the freedom to create something more individualized, where she could sit with people, hear the full story, and provide the quality of attention they were seeking.
She began building the practice gradually inside the gymnastics gym where she had previously coached. As Motion Works grew, its purpose remained clear. People should not feel like numbers moving in and out of a clinic. They should feel heard, seen, and cared for as whole people.
That intention continues to define the business. The strongest impression is not simply technical skill, although the training and credentials are substantial. It is the combination of expertise, attention, and genuine concern for the person receiving care.
Understanding Your Body and Your Recovery
One of the most valuable parts of working with Motion Works is receiving explanations that make sense. Recovery can feel less overwhelming when you understand why something hurts, how different areas of the body may be connected, and what each part of the plan is intended to accomplish.
Brigit’s approach looks beyond the immediate symptom. A painful foot, knee, shoulder, or back may be influenced by movement patterns, strength differences, previous injuries, training habits, or other parts of the body. Looking at the broader picture helps create a plan that is more relevant to the person in front of her.
You are also encouraged to participate in the process. The exercises and recommendations are intended to be realistic and useful, not simply added to a list. As your symptoms, ability, or goals change, the plan can change with you.
Helping You Return to the Activities You Value
For many people, an injury affects much more than physical comfort. It can interrupt training, competition, work, family activities, independence, or the routines that help life feel normal. A person who loves running does not only want less ankle pain. That person wants to run again. A gymnast does not only want a stronger knee. That athlete wants the control and confidence needed to return to practice.
Motion Works keeps those personal outcomes at the center of care. Treatment is shaped around what you are trying to accomplish, whether that involves returning to a sport, rebuilding strength after surgery, moving without fear, or staying active as you get older.
The process may involve hands on treatment, movement work, home exercises, activity modifications, and education. Each part should support the larger goal of helping you return to the life and activities you value.
A More Personal Path Forward
When you are dealing with pain or an injury, you want more than a list of exercises. You want to know that your goals are understood, your questions are welcome, and your progress matters.
Motion Works Sports Medicine & Physical Therapy offers that kind of experience. You are not reduced to one painful joint or moved through a rushed appointment. You receive time, attention, and care shaped around your body and your goals.
